Therapy & Counseling

Dr. Nguyen is committed to helping clients work toward their personal goals.  Her work is grounded in current research in attachment and neuroscience, and draws from contemporary psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and mentalization-based therapies.

Therapy can help clients

  • Improve personal relationships

  • Increase work and school productivity

  • Decrease painful emotions

  • Gain a greater sense of happiness

  • Stop self-destructive tendencies

  • Regain control over their life

  • Unlock their creative potential

  • Understand themselves

Process

Dr. Nguyen's initial focus is to build an authentic and supportive atmosphere, one in which an individual will feel free to bring personal experiences and feelings, so that together you and Dr. Nguyen can work toward individualized goals.   She typically meets with new clients two or three times to gather relevant information, share impressions, and help develop personal goals. She provides short-term and long-term psychotherapy. The frequency (e.g. 1 session/week, 2 sessions/week) and length of work will depend on the types of goals and the client's commitment.
